Notes from the Nurse
We require that children with fever greater than 100, vomiting, or diarrhea not attend school until FREE OF SYMPTOMS FOR 24 HOURS, WITHOUT MEDICATION.
For Pre-K and Kinder students, please make sure they have a change of clothes in their bag at all times, even the ones that "never" have an accident occasionally do.
All children are required to be fully immunized according to the state and federal guidelines. Your child must be up to date in order or provide a notarized waiver to attend school. More information can be found at http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/immunize/school/default.shtm#schools
Vision, hearing, and AN screenings are done on 1st and 3rd grade students only, unless there is a concern. Pre-K & kinder will only have vision and hearing screenings completed. Acanthosis Nigricans (AN) is looking for specific markers on the back of the neck that can indicate the student is at risk for Type II diabetes. You will be notified of any abnormal results.
We cannot administer prescription medications for students without a doctor's order AND a parent signature. The medication must be supplied in the original container and brought in by an adult, not the student.
** Please make sure we have the means to reach you at any time during the day. When illness or injury occurs, we are very eager to reach a parent or caregiver at that time. **
