Because the safety and well being of your children is important to us, we wanted to let you know that Alvarado ISD has had no confirmed cases of the Swine Flu since the recent outbreak around Texas and the nation began last week.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about one to four days usually elapse between the time a person is infected and the onset of symptoms. Influenza normally causes symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, headaches and body aches, fever, chills, and sometimes vomiting and diarrhea.

Preventative measures include avoiding people who are coughing or sneezing and frequent hand washing. Those who aren't health professionals should avoid contact with sick people, or those who are coughing or sneezing.

Alvarado ISD is taking precautions to make sure your child is safe. Teachers are reminding students to wash their hands often and thoroughly, students are being discouraged from drinking or eating after one another, maintenance personnel have been sanitizing our campuses and buses, and should any students be sent to the nurse with symptoms they will be monitored very closely.
